Pastoral CareIn the Community School we understand that moving from Primary to Secondary school is a big move. We want to make sure that every service that will help you settle in and do well is provided. Our Pastoral Department is there to care. Our school offers students the support of the School Chaplain, Ms. O'Flanagan and Ms. Hardiman, our Careers Guidance Counsellor along with Yearheads and Class Tutors. This dedicated team offer a listening ear and respond to the spiritual and emotional needs of our students. Learning SupportIt is a normal feature of life in school that some students find that they need help with their reading, writing or maths. At our school we can help. Each evening First Year students can avail of the support of the "Homework Club", where a teacher is on hand to help out with your homework. The OratoryIn our school the Oratory is a place of quiet when we need a moment to reflect or pray, to retreat from the hard work of the day. A Well Ordered EnvironmentA new school calls for a high degree of order and orgainiation conducive to productive learning. Everyone benefits from a well-ordered environment, none more than the students themselves. Teachers need to teach and students need to learn. Our school has an Anti-Bullying Policy. LockersAll students are given their own locker. Given that school bags are sometimes heavy, students appreciate this convenience. Student CanteenStudying can be hungry work. All students take lunch in our GPA (General Purpose Area). Our Tuck Shop sells meals, savoury rolls, soup and sandwiches, tea, soft drinks and confectionery. After-School Supervised StudyStudents may enrol for Evening Study on a term-by-term basis. This service is popular with students who find they can get most of their homework completed in an atmosphere conducive to study. Information TechnologyAll students have access to our specially networked computers. You will have the opportunity to graduate with the internationally recognised ECDL qualification.
