S.P.H.E.
Course Outline

In the S.P.H.E. programme students deal with a wide range of issues that affect their health and well-being.  This is a mandatory non-exam programme conducted over the three-year Junior Certificate cycle and it is allocated one class period per week. 
Emphasis is placed on building skills, understanding, attitudes and values important to all the ten module areas listed below:
• Belonging and integrating
• Self-management: A sense of purpose
• Communication Skills
• Physical Health
• Friendship
• Relationships and sexuality
• Emotional Health
• Influences and Decisions
• Substance Use
• Personal Safety


Assessment

S.P.H.E. is not currently an exam subject therefore there is no formal assessment. Continuous assessment is done by the individual class teacher on an ongoing basis.
