Course Outline
The Transition Year Maths programme is aimed to progress pupils from what they have studied in the Junior Cert and leave them prepared for entering the Senior Cycle Maths programme. The main areas to be followed during the Transition Year are:
Algebra
M.A.B.S.
Area and Volume
Probability and Statistics
Trigonometry
Project Work
Pupils will have the opportunity to engage in some project work during the course of the year.
Pupils will be asked to do research on the history of Maths and will also be asked to prepare a quiz and other items for Maths week in the school.
Assessment
Pupils will be assessed on the work they are producing in class and via homework on an ongoing basis during the year. Pupils will also be given a main exam at the end of the year and other tests during the year at the individual teachers discretion.
