Course Outline
The C.S.P.E. course was designed to introduce students to all aspects of our civic, political and social structures. It teaches them what it means to be a citizen and helps them to develop skills for citizenship. Students are also introduced to Ireland’s
political structure, the State and government at local, national and international levels.
The course is divided up into 7 main units as follows:
• Human dignity
• Rights and Responsibility
• Stewardship
• Law
• Development
• Democracy
• Interdependence
Project Work
Students will have the opportunity to conduct projects that relate to each concept to advance their own development and to help out charities or worthy organisations.
Assessment
C.S.P.E. is assessed by both a written examination (40%) and either an Action Project or Course-work Assessment Book (60%).
