Glenamaddy Community School’s TY students participated in two ‘An Taisce, National Spring Clean’ mornings during the month of March. Fantastic cleaning up of litter black spots in the town were carried out. We thank Louise Garvey & Kathleen Ward of Glenamaddy Tidy Towns for allowing us to be involved in this very important community work. Please see photos of the clean up in action.

The First Year Girls Basketball concluded their season with a fine win over Presentation College on Tuesday 18th April. Unfortunately, the girls did not progress to the final stages of the competition but have consistently improved since October. Their enthusiasm for basketball is admirable and it is hoped that a basketball camp will be run at GCS at the end of Summer. They are pictured here with Ms de Búrca and TY coaches Ava Halvey and Ava Haugh. Missing from photo is 5th year coach, Michaela Gilhooley.

Congratulations to Leaving Cert student Aleesha Gibbons on winning the age 18 World Irish Dancing Championship, held recently in Dublin.  Aleesha had to qualify through various competitions throughout the year to dance in the Worlds. Aleesha started Irish dancing at 5 years of age and to win the Worlds has always been her dream. She dances with the Kelly O' Dowd School of Dancing.

Well done to Rebecca, Oisin and Cathal who represented our school in the Certified Irish Angus School Competition in Croke Park on March 31st. These students made it through the first round of the competition, being selected from 180 schools to go to Croke Park.  They are now waiting to hear if they are one of the successful groups who will be presented with 5 angus calves at the National ploughing in September.
