Bail ó Dhia oraibh go leir chuig suíomh gréasain na scoile. You are heartily welcome to Glenamaddy Community School, a co-educational secondary school serving the students and communities of Ballymoe, Clonberne, Creggs, Glenamaddy, Glinsk, Kilkerrin and Williamstown. I hope you enjoy our website whether it is for news, information or just browsing.
Our school was founded in 2002 by the Sisters of Mercy and Co. Galway VEC following the amalgamation of Coláiste Seosaimh and St. Benin’s Vocational School. Its mission is to provide an holistic education where the potential and uniqueness of each student is fostered and celebrated.
With our Educational Partners we strive to create a caring environment of mutual respect, where each individual is cherished and nurtured to a personal, intellectual and moral maturity. We find our inspiration in the Christian message of faith, hope and love.
Teaching and Learning is at the heart of all we do in Glenamaddy Community School. We are all learning, we are all teaching and continually looking to make things better.
As a parent myself I want what is best for our children. In our school boys and girls can grow and learn with their friends in a happy and safe environment. Academically we cater for all students by placing priority on their needs. We offer the whole range of subjects, academic and vocational at all levels at Senior and Junior Cycle. We also offer Leaving Cert Applied and Transition Year together with a very successful QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) accredited PLC in Business Secretarial and Computers together with a plethora of Night Classes during the winter. We are especially proud of our Learning Support programme which is an integral part of the curriculum.
Ours is truly a Community School - a place where the students want to come to learn, where staff want to come to work, where parents want to send their children - a place the community is proud of. We look out for one another.
Visitors to our school comment on the friendliness and courtesy of our students and of their sense of pride and belonging in the school. We believe the values we instil in our young people stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
All our extra-curricular activities in our school reflect the powerful work being done in our parishes. A notable feature of our school is the participation of so many teachers who give of their time to extra- curricular activities.
If you enjoy football, basketball or handball , public speaking or quizzes, art or poetry competitions, the company of books or computers, would like to star in a musical, work out in the gym, kayak in Killary Harbour or go on exchange to France then you’ve come to the right school.
We are blessed to have a beautiful new school building: one of the most modern and best equipped in the country with Home Economics and Woodwork Rooms, Computer Rooms, Metalwork and Music, Sports Hall and Gym, Canteen and Demonstration room.
We invite you to come visit us in Glenamaddy Community School and see for yourself.
Our school is community based and is committed to doing its very best for everyone here. I thank all the educational partners: Students, staff, parents, the Parents’ Association, the Students’ Council, Board of Management and the Department of Education for their continued commitment to the school. Let us continue to enhance the teaching and learning in Glenamaddy Community School. Ar Aghaidh le cheile!
