Time to Say Goodbye
There comes a time when we must say goodbye and alas this is my time as Secretary of our Parent's Association.
I must really say for the past five years I have never got as much pleasure in doing a job as this one. I am truly grateful to so many people, for without your help, patience and support I would not have been able to carry out my duties to the full.
There are too many to mention but I do have to mention a few and to the rest of you A BIG SPECIAL THANKS. To Ron, John & Celia, for starting me off on the right path. To Bridie & Breda, for your professional courtesy and guidance at all times. To the various teachers for your kindness and support. To the many speakers whom I have dealt with on behalf of the Association over the years. To An Garda Siochana, especially Ann Mc Donnell in Galway and Angela Mullooley in Roscommon, for all you support and advice with the Gate Collections each year. Connie Carolin from Paccs and Sandra form NYPcc. To our Principal, James Duignan, for whom I would have been lost without his guidance, support and advice and to Eileen Gildea for your great support also.
Last but not least, to all our past & present members - what can I say.. thank you are just words but you know it’s more than that. We have a fantastic and active Association and I would encourage all parents at some stage to join and be a part of it. I have made great friends and it’s that friendship that made my job so easy with teamwork & communication as the secret to our success. I shall miss the Association but I know it will continue its success under the baton of our Chairperson, Howard Simpson. Thank you also Howard, you’ll have some peace now!!!
Finally, a warm welcome to my successor, Sheila Feeney. I hope you all will give her the same support and guidance as I received.

“Parents; Your role in these changing times”
Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel 8th & 9th of November 2013.
Please join us this year for the NPCpp Conference 2013, It will begin on Friday evening and continue throughout Saturday. This years theme is “Parents; Your role in these changing times” and with this in mind NPCpp will provide a range of speakers and workshops which we hope will enable you to parent more effectively at home and in school in these ever changing times.
We are delighted to announce that the Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn TD will address our conference delegates. Among many other activities, Dr. Fergus Heffernan will give an engaging talk full of practical advice on understanding the well-being of teenagers (how to manage and let go of your 13-18 yr. olds), Ian O‘Herlihy will talk on how, the school and home can work together to “Beat the Bully” and as always you will have the opportunity to attend two of the three workshops.
NPCpp hope that Parent Associations, Parents and Guardians of pupils attending Post Primary Schools will join us for this important occasion. We would also ask that if possible, that you inform all parents at your school of the upcoming event.
