Best of luck to all our Leaving and Junior Cert students in the state exams. 

A big thank you to West-Bake in Glenamaddy for sponsoring basketball training tops for our first year team.

 

Wednesday 25th saw our annual awards ceremony take place in the sports hall. It serves to recognise those that have excelled in GCS over the year in all aspects of school life. We saw awards for attendance, academic achievement, sports, arts, subjects as well as the main awards of academic, collegian and student of the year. Well done to all who received awards. 'Music for a Summer's Evening', an evening of music and song brought to you by the staff and students of Glenamaddy Community School will take place on Thursday evening, the 26th of May at 7pm in the School. Tickets on the door are €5 for adults and €3 for students and children. There will also be a raffle and refreshments on the night. All are welcome.

Well done to all our Leaving Cert students who had their Graduation Mass on Thursday 19th in the Sports Hall. It was a wonderful celebration and a fitting way to round off the students time in our school. We wish them well in thier exams and in their future careers. A special word of thanks to Fr. Mooney for celebrating the mass and the Religion Department for all their work in preparing for the night. For more photos from the night please click here

Congratulations to Cillian Madden and the 5th years involved with the Maths Eyes Competition for Maths Week.
They won the overall prize in their community category.
They were presented with a beautiful picture for the school and a Crystal trophy at an exhibition in Dublin recently.

Well done to our first year girls who recently won the Roscommon shield. The girls were victorious over the Covnent of Mercy Roscommon, Strokestown, Roscommon Community College & Athlone Community College.

Well done to our First Year Boys Football team on winning the Connacht D Championship. This team has trained hard all year and got their rewards with a well deserved win. They beat Our Lady's College, Belmullet with a final scoreline of 4-6 to 1-5. Congratulations to all the panel and their management of Mr. Conroy and Mr. Curtin. Well done to TY student Sinead Connelly who came second in the Schools Playwright Competition on Tuesday 26th April. The play, entitled ‘The Smallest Idea of Freedom’ was based on the theme of freedom and set in Dublin in 1916. The competition, run by the All Ireland Drama Festival is in its third year. The award ceremony took place in the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone and Nick Sheridan from RTE was the special guest on the day.
