Well done to the 2nd Year Girls basketball team who have won the Regional Final. They had great wins in the semi and final played on their home court at GCS last week. It is a great achievement for them and their coach Mr. Conway. They now move on to the All Ireland series which will be played in the coming weeks with a venue yet to be confirmed.

John Duignan and Cathal Moran are pictured above all ready to do their presentation at the finals of the Irish Angus Beef School Competition. The lads have put in a massive effort in researching and compiling their presentation. The results will be available in the coming weeks. Best of luck lads.

Well done to our Senior Boys Footballers who had a good win yesterday in the Connacht Championship C quarter final. The lads beat Gortnor Abbey on a scoreline of 5-10 to 2-4. They move on now to play Ballyhaunis in the semi final.

Well done to Cathal Moran and John Duignan on getting through to the final round of the Certified Irish Angus Beef School Competition after an interview in Mullingar recently. They now have to set a stall up in Croke Park on the 15th of March. If victorious, the lads win 5 Angus calves.

A number of Transition Year students have written their own One Act plays and submitted them to the All Ireland Playwright Schools Competition. The prizewinners will be announced at a ceremony in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone in April. Best of luck to all who entered.

'Buail an t-iarann te' mar a deirtear as Gaeilge. The 5th years recently had a workshop organised by the Irish Dept and Conradh na Gaeilge. This workshop informed students about possible careers with teanga na Gaeilge. Niamh Ní Ghoill travels from school to school with an Seó Bóthair and challenges students to think, speak and debate as Gaeilge. She informed students about the number of people that speak Gaeilge daily and also the growth in resources for learning the language (féach ar an teidí a labhraíonn Gaeilge). In addition to this she quizzed the students on their knowledge of text language 'as Gaeilge! Ba cheardlann den scoth í.

Well done to our Siansa group who have entered the first round of the Siansa, Gael Linn competition. It is the most prestigious competition in Ireland for young Irish traditional musicians. We wish them well.
