Congratulations to our Transition Year students who had their Graduation Cermony on Tuesday evening. It has been a busy year for the group with plenty of competitions, trips, school work and activities over the course of the year. Well done to all and special word of thanks co-ordinator Ms. Hession. 

Congratulations to all athletes who have taken part in the Track and Field events recently. Best of luck to Darragh Kennedy, Fifth Year, who has qualified for the All -Ireland 400m in Tullamore on Saturday, May 31.

High Cross College hosted its inaugural Senior Public Speaking Competition on Wednesday 7th May. 

Congratulation to winners, Shay Collins and Jennifer Mahe, from Glenamaddy Community School; and to runners-up, Juliette Darricau and Caoimhe Meehan, from High Cross College. The Glenamaddy C. S. team focused on the theme of Education, with Shay speaking on "The role of technology in modern education" and Jennifer on "The importance of mental health education". High Cross College concentrated on the issue of Health, with Juliette speaking on "How exercise boosts brain power and productivity" and Caoimhe on "The dangers of vaping and smoking”.

Ballyhaunis Community School played host to an inter-school debate friendly on Friday, the 4th of April. Debaters from Glenamaddy, Castlerea and Ballyhaunis took part in a day of heated debate and discussion.
There were three rounds of debate, covering motions such as “This House believes that AI is a force for good” and “This House would emigrate.” Sixteen speakers took on the challenge with aplomb.BCS ultimately claimed the top prize.
Congratulations to our three teams, who spoke passionately on the day. Well done to Lily Kelly, Ethan Collins, Charagh Higgins, Molly Cunniffe, Julian Turner, Aaron Reid and their mentors Shay Collins and Jenny Mahe. 

  

Well to our TY group who helped with the Local Tidy Towns on a clean up around the locality. 'Many hands make light work'!!

It was a very busy week for Michaela. On Thursday night, accompanied by Ms Madden, Ms Collins and her mum, she attended the Regional Divisional Garda Youth Awards in Galway where she was presented with a certificate of Merit.
On Saturday she was back in Dublin again at an award ceremony for the National Technovation Competition. This was a National Competition where students had to create and code an app,  along with creating a financial and business plan. Michaela was placed fourth on this competition. She also placed second in their Science Selfie Competition

Glenamaddy CS quailifed for the first ACCS All Ireland Debating Championship Final. St Brendan’s Community School, Birr, emerged victorious on the day, winning the inaugural Frank Murray Cup – presented by Barbara Murray. The final showcased the debating skills and intellectual prowess of students from across Ireland. Well done to Shay Collins, Jennifer Mahe, Alina Sirola and Julian Turner who represented our school so well and had such a successful year. Students from Glenamaddy Community School PLC class took part in a two-week Erasmus+ work placement programme in Málaga during Easter of 2025. This valuable opportunity was made possible by our host company, European Era, with funding from the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The trip offered a great mix of cultural experiences and professional learning.

Best of luck to our two teams of third year students, participating in an inter school Junior Science Quiz in ATU on Thursday night 10th April.
