The Leaving Certs celebrated Mole Day on October 23rd 2024.

The prestigious 'Bard of Connacht' competition is organised by Kilbegnet Historical Society in conjunction with the Creggs Harvest Festival and is sponsored by Ward and Burke.  On Friday 25th October the prizegiving took place in the beautiful Heritage Centre in Creggs. Two Transition Year Students from GCS were shortlisted as prizewinners- Jessica Gannon with her poem 'Limits are Illusions' and Julian Turner with his poem 'Ghosts'. Julian took eighth place while Jessica came in second place and won a cash prize for herself and the Transition Year class.  It is an excellent achievement and a brilliant start to the year for these TY students. We are thankful to Larry Kilcommins and Seamus Ward for all their hard work in organising the competition and look forward to being part of it for many years to come.

Congratulations to Savine Keaveney, Tracey Gilhooly and Ella Grogan on receiving an Order of Merit for their John Hooper CSO
Maths Project that they completed in TY. They were awarded their Certificate at an Awards Ceremony in Croake Park recently. They were among the top 15 in Ireland so a fantastic Achievement for their project called “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

The GCS Open/Enrolment Evening will take place on Tuesday November 12th from 5-7pm. This evening is an opportunity for prospective students and their parents to view our facilities and discuss subject choices with teachers and current students. The evening will include an address from our Principal and a word of welcome from the school Chaplain. The proceedings will culminate with a guided tour of the school followed by tea/coffee in the GP area
